ABOUT

The Adams – Friendship Green Demon Youth Wrestling Club is a non profit organization dedicated to the personal growth and physical well-being of our Adams County Youth.

The goal of this program is to promote health and physical fitness, good sportsmanship, learning of wrestling fundamentals, and to provide a fun and worthwhile leisure activity for participants.  It is the role and responsibility of our Board of Directors to continually participate in promoting the competitive and disciplined sport of wrestling to our area parents, children and communities.  Our program will continually strive to develop the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, respect and dignity,  and to encourage family participation throughout all club activities. Wrestling offers a unique opportunity for our youth to grow and learn, to remain physically and emotionally healthy and continually challenged.  Our members remain involved in an organized sport while building their own personal fundamentals and values, all while we are also teaching them to be part of a team.  Our youth are taught to play by the rules, to pick themselves up and try again when they have had a tough match, and to support their teammates. We work hard on teaching the youth to learn how to win with grace through hard work and dedication, and more importantly, how to lose with dignity.   None of this would be possible without the immense support we recieve from the community, the volunteer coaches and parents  and our sponsors.

Our club is a private club, and is open to all youth, regardless of school district. There is no requirement that our members live within the Adams Friendship School District or within any certain geographical area.  If your district or area does not offer a wrestling program, ours is open to you! Please contact us if you are interested in joining our club.  We’d love to have you!

 1. PROGRAM FORMAT:  Participants receive instruction from our volunteer coaches, covering the fundamental principles of Folkstyle Wrestling.   There will also be opportunities for participants to compete in wrestling competitions, with the club sponsoring most tournament fees for all active club members. It is through the support of our fundraising efforts and generous sponsors, that the club is able to assist  members with entry fees for area tournaments.  All tournament information is posted regularly at practices, and wrestlers are encouraged to choose and participate in the area tournaments chosen by the club for team entry.

 2. UNIFORMS:  Club members will recieve information on purchasing Green Demon singlets early in the season.  Additionally, there are often gently used items available for sale and / or trade throughout the season, including singlets, wrestling shoes, headgear and more.  If you are looking to sell and/or purchase used items, check the tables during practices early in the year. Additionally, there are often opportunities to purchase other team gear items, including sweatshirts, warm up suits and more. We also have Warm Up Suits available for check out with a small deposit that is collected to assure return of our clothing / warm up items.

3. PRACTICES:  Practices are held in the old Skateland Building in Friendship (located at the Adams County Fairgrounds)  each Tuesday & Thursday.  Times and details for practices are given at the beginning of the season. Watch for updates on registration / sign up and  first practice dates.   Parents and other family members are encouraged to observe practices, however, siblings and other children must be closely supervised and remain seated with their parents at all times.

4. FEES and COSTS:  Registration in the club costs $30.00 per wrestler to join the club each year. (Or $70.00 per family for three or more wrestlers.)  A registered wrestler receives a team t-shirt with their registration. In addition to the cost of club registration, wrestlers will need to get their own headgear and shoes, and as mentioned above, are required to purchase a Green Demon singlet for participation in club paid tournaments.
