REGIONAL SUCCESS FOR GREEN DEMONS
By Jason R. West
After months of blood, sweat and tears the WWF Kids Folkstyle Regionals were finally here for the wrestlers of the Adams community. For most of these wrestlers this day has been marked on their calendar since last November when the wrestling season started. The WWF Kids Folkstyle Regionals is one step away from having the opportunity of becoming a state champion. In order to make it to state, a wrestler must finish with a first or second place finish at one of the eight regional locations. There were a total of 17 youth wrestlers from the Adams community from various clubs that competed. I’m proud to report that 10 of these competitors earned their way to the state competition. Jared Lenze, Trenton McManus and Cole Clark all took a first place at the Merrill Regional. Rylan Burrows also competed at Merrill but finished with a 2nd place after a hard fought one point defeat in the finals. At the Westby Regional Sierra Kemp, Makinlea Gast, Dylan Richardt and Sebastian Billington all took a first place and are moving on to state. Brandon Kniprath and Frank Murray took a second place at Westby and will be meeting up with their fellow teammates in Madison on Friday and Saturday, March 26th and 27th at the Alliant Energy Center for the WWF Kids State Folkstyle Tournament. Garett Gasienica and Griffin West have both been called to wrestle as well, summoned as alternates who will also compete for a spot on the podium in Madison, bringing the total STATE BOUND GREEN DEMON count to 12 !
Congratulations to all of the youth wrestlers that competed this weekend at Regionals!
